Individual Adults
Individual counseling is an opportunity to talk confidentially with a trained, professional counselor about personal concerns to facilitate personal growth. The counselor and client work together to define and discuss personal issues and to reach mutually agreed upon goals. This is accomplished in part by the therapeutic relationship established and the application of psychological principles and techniques.
Any one of our therapists can provide individual counseling.
“Therapy is too good to be limited to the sick.”
– Erving Polster
For many, psychotherapy is the most life-changing process in which they will ever engage. The most fundamental form of therapy is individual therapy. The power of sitting with someone who is completely focused on you, without distractions, is undeniable. Not only is the therapist focused on you, but he or she listens for subtleties that you may have missed. The therapist heightens your awareness of how you present yourself to the world and of how you can improve on this presentation. The therapist will challenge you to face barriers that you never thought could be overcome. He or she will assist you in forgiving the unforgivable without losing yourself in the process. In short, individual therapy is about becoming the “you,” you have always wanted to be through the assistance of an experienced guide.
Individual therapy can:
- Help simplify complicated decisions
- Help heal long-term wounds
- Give a new perspective on life’s problems
- Shed light on personal behavior
- Facilitate growth into healthy functioning
- Improve social skills
- Correct maladaptive thinking and behaving
- Bring out the healthy and whole you.
