Monica Shire, LPCMH
Licensed Professional Counselor

Monica brings over 20 years of experience as an early childhood professional, serving children and families in various roles such as therapist, international adoption social worker, and nature-based educator. In addition to her work with children, Monica enjoys working with individual adults on a wide range of topics. She believes connecting with nature allows us to connect with ourselves, leading to increased happiness, reduced anxiety and stress, improved attention, heightened empathy, and a lower risk of psychiatric disorders. Monica employs a holistic approach, helping clients achieve mental, physical, and spiritual balance through various modalities, including EMDR and Neurofeedback.
Monica is certified in PCIT, Adoption Competency, and Nature-informed therapy. She received her B.S. in education from the University of Idaho in 1993, and her M.A. in Counseling from Liberty University (VA) in 2002 and in 2011 she earned a Master’s Certification in Educational Leadership from the University of Delaware. Dr. Shire earned her Ed.D in 2022 at the University of Delaware where her research centered around Nature-based Education Professional Development for Reducing Children’s Sedentary Screen Life.
